The Geelong Lesbian Group is a non-political, social and support group for lesbians in the Geelong area.
The group started in September 1998 and currently has between 25 and 30 members.
GLG provides a friendly, non-threatening environment where women can make friends and share experiences with other lesbians. You can talk with members or chat with one of our contacts about coming out, sexuality etc. in a relaxed, safe environment.
We provide a monthly newsletter, which covers upcoming social events and news. GLG is also affiliated with other Geelong, Melbourne and regional gay and lesbian groups, helping to keep members informed with up-to-date news and events.
The group provides a range of social activities. Events have included a winery tour, car rally, BBQs, bushwalks, dances, video nights, pool competitions, golf days, etc. Recently we have played golf at Balyang pitch and putt and gone ten pin bowling. Every year we organise a women’s only dance event, which has women coming from all over Victoria to attend.
The meetings are held every 2 months. They are held on the third Saturday of every month, usually at local restaurants and cafes. These relaxed and informal meetings are usually followed by dinner and drinks.
To become a member of the Geelong Lesbian group, simply go to the membership page, print out the membership form and send it along with $15 for singles or $25 for couples. If you would like to come along and meet us all first, please call us and find out where our next meeting is going to be. We would love to get to know you and you can decide about membership from there.
